In accordance with the decision communicated by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), a new regulation has been introduced regarding short-term residence permits for international graduates who have completed their higher education in Türkiye.
International graduates who applied within six months of their graduation and were granted a one-year short-term residence permit may now apply for an additional one-year residence permit, provided that they submit their application during the validity of their current permit or within 90 days after its expiration, and meet the conditions set forth in the relevant legislation. As a result, the total duration of their residence permit may be extended to up to two years.
This regulation aims to support international graduates in continuing their postgraduate studies, pursuing academic and scientific activities, and improving their access to employment opportunities that match their qualifications.
For further information, applicants are advised to follow the latest announcements of the Directorate General of Migration Management. This regulation has been communicated to all universities by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
